Proheart 6 injection removed from the market by manufacturer at FDA's
request.
September 29, 2004 -- Fort Dodge, manufacturer of Proheart 6, a slow-release
injectable heartworm preventative has voluntarily recalled all of its
Proheart 6 product from the veterinary pharmaceutical market after FDA
requests that they do so voluntarily. With recent press attention and
post-release side effects announced by the manufacturer, the FDA requested
that Fort Dodge remove Proheart 6 from the market until more studies can be
done to establish the products safety and efficacy. If your pet has been on
